Eyeball Releases Firewall and NAT Traversal Solution
For iPhone
AnyFirewall Engine enables
real-time communications for iPhone and iPad using
STUN, TURN, and ICE
VANCOUVER, B.C. (November 30, 2010) - Eyeball
Networks, a leading developer of firewall and NAT
traversal infrastructure and developer tools for
VoIP, IMS, and Packet Cable 2.0 networks, today
announced the release of its AnyFirewall Engine
firewall and NAT traversal solution for iOS, Apple's
mobile operating system used in iPhone, iPad, and
iPod Touch devices. AnyFirewall Engine is the first
carrier-grade firewall and NAT traversal solution
designed for the iOS operating system for use in
real-time communications and gaming applications.
Together with AnyFirewall Server, AnyFirewall
Engine now enables developers and device makers to
deliver instant, seamless, and guaranteed
connections between iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
applications while benefiting from peer-to-peer
media delivery, low latency, and carrier-grade
scalability.
"We have seen a dramatic increase in demand from our
customers to deliver Eyeball's industry-leading NAT
traversal solutions to mobile devices. The addition
of AnyFirewall for Apple iOS builds on our support
for other mobile devices including Windows Mobile
and Android smartphones and tablet devices, as we
continue to further enable mobile service providers,
application developers, and device makers," said
Chris Piche, CEO for Eyeball. "We expect to continue
to innovate in the mobile market as we add
AnyFirewall support for additional devices and
operating systems including Blackberry, Symbian, and
Windows Phone 7."
AnyFirewall Engine and Server are based on years of
innovation by Eyeball and leverage IETF, IMS,
Microsoft, and PacketCable protocols. They provide
guaranteed, carrier-grade firewall and NAT traversal
across multiple embedded, PC, and mobile platforms
including Android, iPhone/iPad, Linux, OS X, VxWorks,
Windows, and Windows Mobile.
Key features of AnyFirewall Engine and Server
include:
- 100% guaranteed firewall and NAT traversal
- Universal standards support for wireless, fixed,
and cable networks via STUN, TURN, ICE, UPnP, ICE-
TCP, MS-ICE2, and MS-TURN
- Cross-platform support for Android, iPhone/iPad,
Linux, OS X, VxWorks, Windows, and Windows Mobile
- Field proven with hundreds of licensees and tens
of millions of endpoints
Apple's popular FaceTime application is a great
example of how standards like STUN, TURN, and ICE
can be used to enable real-time communications
through NAT and firewall devices. Eyeball's
AnyFirewall solutions enable other iPhone and iPad
app developers to overcome the barriers associated
with running applications from behind a corporate
firewall, NAT device, or WiFI hotspot, and focus on
delivering a high quality user experience.
